The ShonKy Bread Bin Tenor is the second instrument to be made from the body of an Ikea barrel shaped beech bread bin.

22" scale length

Cedar Top with a paduak floating bridge
Brass Tailpiece.
Double bound body.

Purpleheart fingerboard with vintage size nickel silver frets cream fret markers

Sapele neck cream side markers

Brass string retainer, Vintage style open gear machine heads

2 soundholes on either side. Nice old fashioned banjo style heel.

Tough but thin shellac and water based polyeurathane lacquer finish

The Breadbin Tenor plays great along the entire length of the fretboard. It has a medium set up which can be lowered by sanding the bridge down to your preference.
It projects good volume for a small instrument with well rounded tone a hint of banjo plunk can be heard. It is also fitted with a piezo disc for easy amplification and recording. The amplified tone is very natural. An external preamp maybe required for certain applications.
